During Sunday services at Lamb’s Fellowship Church in Lake Elsinore, the parking lot is filled with motorcycles and cars and the congregation is full of families with children.
With the congregation’s passion for classic cars and youth ministry, the church last year decided to start a car and motorcycle show in an effort to raise $12,000 for children in need.
The show will continue this year. All proceeds from the June 18 event will go to the children’s ministry and then be distributed to various organizations.
“Our mission as an all-volunteer group putting on the car show is working with great people to ensure (the money goes) to those children in need directly,” event Executive Director Paul Kakis said.
Kakis said the church is expecting 250 cars and 60 motorcycles this year. The event will include 50 vendors, multiple food trucks, live music, raffles and a dunk tank where parishioners can dunk the pastor.
“I knew that we had this love and affection for cars and motorcycles in our church, and I wanted to leverage that and grow that into something that could contribute to the community and bring direct benefit to the church as well,” Kakis said.
This year, Lamb’s Fellowship Church has secured several event sponsors.
Temecula Harley-Davidson’s marketing manager and event coordinator Cruz Harriman said he is excited to support the cause.
“A lot of people in this community are into hot rods and motorcycles, and there’s a lot of families,” Harriman said.
So Cal Vettes and Hot Rods in Lake Elsinore is also sponsoring the event, and owner Rocky Quintus said he thinks the car show will be successful socially and financially.
“There’s a strong car culture here,” Quintus said. “It’s a means for everybody to get together (and) enjoy cars.”
In an effort to bring back classic cars to the downtown area, the city of Lake Elsinore is sponsoring the event in hopes of promoting the show and the city.
“We’re thankful to Lamb’s Fellowship for putting together a quality event that provides family fun for our community and attracts visitors to Lake Elsinore,” city of Lake Elsinore senior management analyst Nicole Dailey said.
The event will be at Lamb’s Fellowship Church at 21901 Railroad Canyon Road from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
